WESTFIELD- Arthur "Art" Russell Mansfield, 77, of Westfield, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Dunkirk, NY, following a brave battle with cancer. He was born January 16, 1948, in Silver Creek, NY, the son of the late Edson and Winifred Smith Mansfield.

Art was a 1966 graduate of Pine Valley Central School. He earned his master's in education from SUNY Fredonia, then went on to teach science for 31 years at Sherman Central School.

Art was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Westfield, an ADK 46er, having climbed the 46 highest Adirondack peaks, and was also a member of the Sierra Club. He enjoyed being in nature and was a proud environmentalist. Arthur also enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, and cheering for the Buffalo Bills. Most of all, he enjoyed time with his family. Art was known as "Papa" to his beloved grandkids, Holly,  Jesse and Wes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Andrea Sebring Mansfield, whom he married March 31, 1972 in Rock Stream, NY, a daughter, Megan (Matt Via) Mansfield of Delmar, NY, a son, Clayton (Loreah) Mansfield of Flagstaff, AZ, three grandchildren, three brothers, Richard (Sharon) Mansfield, Donald (Joanne) Mansfield, and Thomas (Sue) Mansfield, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kate Mansfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church of Westfield. Burial will be in the Westfield Portland Union Cemetery.
