CONEWANGO VALLEY – Barbara A. Burgess, 75, of Conewango Valley, died Friday (August 22, 2014) in UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA.
She was born December 31, 1938 in Mayville, NY the daughter of the late Gerald L. and Jessie Maus Turner.
Barbara was a cook at the Randolph Children's Home.
She was a member of the Conewango Baptist Church.
Barbara enjoyed raising dogs, cooking, also cross stitching, knitting, and quilting. She loved children, and was very involved in her church. Barbara tried to be helpful to others as this was her guiding principle.
She is survived by her sister, Geraldine T. Horohoe of Kenmore, NY, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Burgess whom she married September 29, 1985 and who died October 23, 2009; two brothers, Ray E. Turner, and Edward A. Turner.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday in the Conewango Baptist Church, 5443 Rt. 241 Conewango. Rev. Marc Loranger, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery in Forestville.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Thursday prior to the service at church.
Memorials may be made to the Conewango Baptist Church.
