Bonnie Lou
Bordenkircher
d. Apr 1, 2023
Bonnie Bordenkircher, née Moore passed away suddenly at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk, NY, the evening of Saturday, April 1, 2023 surrounded by loving family. Beloved daughter of Ken and Frances Moore née Rushforth, preceded in passing by her parents, and siblings Larry, Carolyn, and Ken, all loved beyond words. Mom is survived by an immediate and extended family of a great and ever-growing number, including her dear youngest sister, her remaining sibling, in Los Angeles, California. To include everyone would necessitate a full-page ad, which Mom would have looked upon with disapproval over its impracticality.
While she faced numerous medical challenges in her recent years she faced them with a mixture of aplomb, humor, and stoic resilience while caring for our father and any number of other family members whenever and however she could. Mom passes on many of her cherished pastimes to us, including a love for camping in peaceful forests, crafting, boating on the Hudson or local lakes, gardening, and volunteering; as well as lovingly spoiling her family, most especially all of the children she could. What Mom could not heal with a wisecrack, a lovingly prepared meal whipped up out of seemingly nowhere, or a heartfelt hug, she would always attend to with loving support; even if she had to explain that you really should probably have made a better decision.
Mom endured much, probably more than her share, but she was always there to endure what may come alongside you, no matter her own troubles; the travails of age, disease, and heartbreak were nearly countless at times and still she persevered with a laugh and a smile, even in direst times and ever-thinning dimes. "Press on", as Grandpa Moore would often say, and she did so, in spades. She always made sure we had something to laugh about in good times or bad. We love and miss her indescribably and unfathomably. Regardless of the vicissitudes of the ebb and flow of life, its meaning, or purpose she will be with us all. But, most of all, we miss not only our mother, our stalwart guardian, our bulwark helping to hold sorrow and fear at bay, ever-present confidante, and the many other things she always was to so many of us.
We will all miss one of our dearest and first friends. We will look after one another as you have taught us. Soar high, Mom, we will see you again; just not yet.
