Bruce Hartzell Pettit, aka "Moose",  84, formerly of Mayville, NY passed away September 24th, after getting in one last great weekend at the swap meet, trading car parts.

Bruce was born on January 4th, 1939, to the late Raymond and Idabelle Pettit. He was raised on the family dairy farm and attended Mayville High School where he enjoyed wrestling.

Professionally, he worked as an auto mechanic at various dealerships around Chautauqua County. He was also very active in the Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club in the 70's. Bruce enjoyed many different styles of racing. In retirement, he moved to Ohio where he enjoyed fabricating cars with his family, participating in car shows, and most recently Bonneville style land speed racing.

Bruce is survived by his son Jon (Linda) Pettit and granddaughters Erica and Michelle Pettit. He was preceded in death by many relatives, Ruthie Summerfelt Pettit (widow), Norma Thayer Pettit (divorced) and daughter Shelly Pettit.
