STOCKTON- Burnice Jean Shields Steinhoff, 86, of Stockton, NY passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA following a brief illness.

She was born April 26, 1934 in Meadville, PA, the daughter of the late David and Osie Jewell Shields.

Burnice had worked as a machine operator at Osram Sylvania in Warren, PA, where she retired from. She had also worked in the logging industry with her family owned sawmill.

She was a member of the Warren and Fredonia Senior Citizens, previously played in a kitchen band in Warren, PA and was an avid hunter. She also enjoyed square dancing, traveling the world, photography, and the companionship of her dog, "Major".

Burnice is survived by two step children; Alan Steinhoff of Stockton, NY, Barbara (Forrest) Phillips, of Stockton, NY, four grandchildren; Jacob (Tina) Steinhoff, Austin, Justin, and Jeremiah Phillips, one siter; Eva Harvey of Guys Mills, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Arvied Lester Steinhoff, whom she married September 26, 1994, a stepfather; Fred Weaver, a brother; David Shields, and two sisters; Lulu Weaver and Norma Orians.

A private funeral service will be held at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. The Rev. Daniel Prewitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Chautauqua Cemetery.
