SHERMAN-Carol A. Colt- Surrounded by family, Carol A. Colt, loving mother, grandmother and friend, lost her battle with cancer on December 23, 2017.
Born on December 12, 1946 to Thelma (Ransom) and Roy Colt, in Dunkirk, NY; Carol, also known as Molly, was a fiery tomboy who loved horses and rode most of her life. She graduated from Brocton Central School in 1965. Carol spent the first part of adulthood on a Sherman dairy farm. Always someone who loved meeting people Carol worked at the western store, The Country Corral.
Continuing her love of adventure Carol spent the last 25 years of her life, first, driving her own semi truck and then, driving for others. She was still driving when she received her diagnosis last year. Carol truly lived life to the fullest through the sights she saw in her travels, chatting with friends and friends-yet-to-be, loving her dogs and horses, and, especially, spending time with her grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother and brother Dennis. Left to remember Carol and honor her love are her father Roy, daughters Kim (Curtis) Witherow and Barbara Rublee, ex-husband Gerald Boardman, four grandchildren Tyler (Kayla), Zachary, Eric, Kenny and Kinsey, one great grandchild, Gannon, friend Ron Glosser, and several nieces and nephews. Carol will be remembered for her generous heart and the way she met everyone with a smile that brightened their day.
Carol wished that her family hold a celebration in remembrance of her life. This event will be held on Saturday, December 30 at the Sherman Firehall from 1 to 4 pm. All who wish to attend are invited. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in support of pancreatic cancer research.
