MAYVILLE- Carol Elaine Duryee Howard, 73, of Mayville, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 11, 2023, with family at her side following a lengthy illness.

She was born September 9, 1949, in North East, PA, the daughter of Alice Trask Chambers the late Carl Duryee.

Carol was a 1967 graduate of Sherman Central School. She had worked as an office manager for Young Title Agency in Mayville, NY, and was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church where she served as the treasurer and was a previous teacher at the church.

She enjoyed crafting, reading books, caning chairs, accounting and bookkeeping, cooking, and raising cows with her husband and her two dogs. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, Gary Howard Sr. of Mayville, NY whom she married May 20, 1967, in Sherman, NY, her mother, Alice Trask Chambers of Jamestown, NY, a son, Gary (Lisa) Howard Jr. of Sharpsburg, GA, a daughter, Christie (Hank) Asel of Lakewood, NY, more than thirty grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three brothers: Joseph (Donna) Chambers of Rochester, NY, James (Linda) Chambers of Sherman, NY, and Jeffry (Linda) Chambers of Jumping Branch, WV, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son: Ryan S. Howard and a great-grandson, Cameron Massey.

At Carol's request, all services will be private. Burial will be in the Lowville cemetery.
