After a long life and a brief illness, Charles Richard DiNardo, 89, passed away on June 25, 2023. He was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Buffalo, NY, to Geraldine (Graesser) and Thomas DiNardo.
With his former wife, the late Vivian (Butcher) DiNardo, he raised four children: Jane A. (Jerry) Burzynski, Daniel C., Kathryn L. (Robert) Sitek, and Charles T.
Upon marrying Demaris (Briggs) Buxton later in life, his family grew with step-children Fred C. Buxton III, John D. (Roxanne) Buxton, and Eric A. Buxton.
Also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His career spanned many years, as a driver for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines and a dispatcher for Roadway Express, to dock foreman, warehouse manager and operations manager for Hickman, Coward & Waddles; Red Wing; Tzetzo Bros.; Pilot Freight, and Freezer Queen. He also worked with J.C. Brock Company and stayed active after retirement with A. Sam & Sons and work at Walmart.

In addition to family, his joys in life included his black labs (most recently, Buddy), the hundreds of hummingbirds that flocked to his backyard, his carefully tended phlox garden and grape vines, the many garden gnomes and fairies on his hillside garden, and his little green '76 MG. And let us not forget the beloved Butterfingers and daily newspaper!

The funeral will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 1 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
