KLINGINSMITH- Charles Dexter Klinginsmith, 90, of Jamestown, passed away on October 23, 2023, at St Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA, He was born April 10, 1933, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Donald D. and Elsie Erwin Klinginsmith.

Charlie had attended Cassadaga High School. At 18 years of age, he enlisted into the United States Marines and proudly served his country in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he worked for Agway in oil sales before starting his business, Klinginsmith Plumbing and Heating. His work ethic, discipline, and experience were the foundation of his business that served the Chautauqua Lake region for decades. Charlie's love for hunting and fishing was surpassed only by his love of sharing a good joke with friends. He had many catchphrases; when told to "have a good day", he would reply, "and a better tomorrow".

He was a member of the Lake Chautauqua VFW Post 8647 and the Mayville American Legion William L. Travis Post 493 and had been a long-time Mason.

Charlie is survived by his wife: Wendy Rowe Klinginsmith, his four sons: Andy, Phil, Michael, and Brian, one stepson, Charlie, one sister, Anita Hall, eleven grandchildren: Heather, Keith, Justin, Ryan, Kody, Anna, Lily, Alexa, Calin, Owen and Charlotte, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Craig, and a sister, Marilyn Neider.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The funeral will be private and officiated by the Rev. Richard Elberfeld. Burial will be in the Chautauqua Cemetery.
