Cheryl Dickey Steele, 68, of Rt. 380, Jamestown, died Friday (Sept. 23, 2016) at Warren Manor in Warren, PA.
She was born April 20, 1948 in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of Evelyn Strickland Dickey and the late Lester O. Dickey.
Cheryl graduated from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, NY and from WCA School of Practical Nursing. She had been employed at WCA Hospital and at Fenton Park Nursing Home both in Jamestown, NY.
She is survived by her companion and loving caregiver, Curtis Crowell of Jamestown; a daughter, Dawn M. (Gregory) Dawson of Greece, NY; a grandson, Alex Dawson of Greece, NY; her mother, Evelyn S. Hurlburt of Bemus Point; Dawn's father, Thomas Steele of Jamestown; two sisters, Karen (David Sr.) Vogt of Irving, NY, and Rita Dickey of Tonawanda, NY; two aunts, June Mallery of Jamestown, and Louise Strickland of Bemus Point;several nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Dickey, two sisters, Marcia Ann Dickey and Anita Kay Yount; grandparents, Herbert and Ruth Strickland; two uncles, Howard and David Strickland; a brother in-law, Harry Yount; and her father and mother in-law, Francis and Alice Steele.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday (Oct. 1, 2016) at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Burial will be in the Dewittville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 pm prior to the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home.
