ASHVILLE – David Franklin Hanson, died unexpectedly on Monday (February 2, 2015) while recovering from an accident that occurred early in 2014.
He was an Ashville, NY resident born to Franklin Hanson and Mary Lou Lillard Barlow on April 12, 1953. He graduated from Chautauqua High School.
He is survived by his twin sons David L. Hanson (Emily Faust) of Fredonia and James C. Hanson of Texas; his mother Mary Lou Barlow (Walt Amy) of Fredonia; his father Franklin Hanson of Ashville; two sisters, Zoe Ann Ritchie of Smicksburg, and Tammy Buck of Jamestown; two brothers, Daniel Hanson (Elizabeth) of Jamestown, and Eric Hanson of North Tonawanda, NY, and he had several nieces and nephews. David was a devoted grandfather to Lincoln J. Hanson and Collin K. Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his step mother Phyllis T. Hanson, and a step sister, Teri Buck
He spent his time home enjoying his family and friends. Most recently he was employed as a truck driver and loved traveling the country. He has also been employed by Webber Knapp of Jamestown and National Forge of Irving, PA.
David was an avid motorcycle and NASCAR racing fan, as well as a proud veteran of the US Navy.
He was a kind hearted man and a wonderful friend to everyone he knew.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Saturday (Feb. 7, 2015) at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville.
Memorials may be made to the Open Meadows United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday (June 30, 2015) in the Open Meadows United Methodist Church.
