ASHVILLE- David Arthur Hoyt, 83, of Ashville, died on January 6, 2019 at UPMC Chautauqua in Jamestown, NY.

He was born July 11, 1935 on Potter Road in the Town of Chautauqua, the son of the late Earl George and Alice G. Chapman Hoyt.

David had been a self-employed dairy farmer in Ashville.

He enjoyed red tractors, boxing, raising pigeons, farming, classic western music, dancing, country drives, tractor pulls, his dogs, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife; Shirley DeLong Hoyt, whom he married on September 14, 2002 in Jamestown, NY, one brother; Daniel E. Hoyt, two daughters; Linda (Thomas) Anzalone of Mayville, and Marilyn Hoyt of Ashville, a step daughter; Beth (David) Bemis of Jamestown, six grandchildren; Jennifer (Matt) Zakrzewski, Jonathan (Amanda) Hoyt, Jared (Stephanie) Anzalone, Patricia (Michael) Hoyt, Lauren Hoyt, and Jacob Kennedy, four step grandchildren; Kayle (Albert) Bemis, Michael (Hailey) Lofecheck, Alanna Bemis, and Joshua (Emily) Hazlett, six great grandchildren; Rilynn, Braxxton, Wyatt, Kadin, Mason, and Willow, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his late wife; Patricia Martin Hoyt, his parents, a son; Jeffery Hoyt, a daughter in-law; Barbara Hoyt, two step children; Kathy Lofecheck and Charles Vogle, a sister in-law; Shirley Hoyt, and a sister and brother in-law; Robert and Marion Hoyt McChesney.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 10AM at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. The Rev. Joseph Osborne will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7PM on Wednesday, January 9, at the funeral home (139 S. Erie St).
