MAYVILLE- David John Walters, 68, of Mayville, died on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at his home.

He was born June 22, 1950, in Olean, NY, the son of the late Jack Hugh Walters, and Betty Besok Walters.

David had worked as a self-employed plumbing and heating serviceman.

He enjoyed hunting deer during the archery, shotgun and muzzleloader seasons, auctions, and time with his family.

David is survived by his wife; Anne Goodyear Walters, whom he married on December 2, 1972 in Sartwell, PA, two sons; Jonathan (Shadow) Walters of Olean, and Brian Walters of New Orleans, his mother; Betty Besok Walters of Mayville, five siblings; Bonnie Seth of Olean, Jacqueline (Robert) Wiley of Olean, Bruce Walters of Hinsdale, Linda Corell of Portland, and Sandra (Dave Henneburger) Robinson of Portville, four sister in-laws; Diane (Rick) Vogel of Bloomington, IN, Virginia (Gary) Smith of Eldred, PA, Janice (Bruce) Kinney of Sinclairville, and Barbara (John Owczarski) Goodyear of MA, many special nieces and nephews who were like his own children, and two special care takers; Paula Russell, and Amy Ray.

He was preceded in death by his father; Jack H Walters, an infant son; Michael Walters, and a brother in-law; James Corell.

A Memorial service will be held at 4PM on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St). The Rev. Jim Witherington will officiate. A private burial will be in Chautauqua Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service (2-4PM) at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the ALS Association Upstate New York Chapter, 135 Old Cove Road, Liverpool, NY 13090.
