MAYVILLE- Donald A. "Bub" Fardink, 72, of Mayville, died on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at his home.

He was born December 20, 1946 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Milton and Elnora Carlson Fardink.

Bub was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, having proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.

He had worked as a heavy equipment operator and maintenance worker for the buildings and grounds department at the Chautauqua Institution.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the company of his dogs, and time with his family.

Bub is survived by his wife, Diane "Dee" McGarry Fardink, whom he married July 18, 1993 in Bucks County, PA, his two sons; Ethan Fardink of Mayville, and Nolan (Danielle Martin) Fardink of Mentor, OH, a daughter; Laurie Fardink of Kennedy, NY, three grandchildren; Vincent Fardink, Casey and Taylor Williams, one sister; Mary (John) Foster of AZ, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Roger Fardink, and two sisters, Donna Lescynski and June Gross.

Friends may call on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 5-7PM at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St).

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ashville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, 20 W Fairmount Ave, Lakewood, NY 14750.
