ASHVILLE- Donald Paul Nickerson, 76, of Ashville, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at the Heritage Green Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenhurst, NY.

He was born April 29, 1945 in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Elton and Katherine Munson Nickerson.

Don was a 1963 graduate of Mayville Central School. He attended Alfred State College for his undergraduate work and received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Buffalo. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Don had worked as a mechanical engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation in Mayville for over twenty years.

He enjoyed Mopar parts, working in his garage, fishing, traveling, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Don is survived by his wife; Donna Bushey Nickerson, whom he married July 1, 1989 in Mayville, Ny, two sons; Kenneth (Tanya) Dirling of Jamestown, NY, and Brian (Maureen) Dirling of Dewittville, NY, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother; David (Brenda) Nickerson of Dewittville, NY, one sister; Linda (Barry) Larson of Mayville, NY, one sister in-law: Linda Nickerson, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Nickerson.

At Don's request there will be no services observed. A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
