CHAUTAUQUA- Edwin Moore "Ted" Steckel III, of Chautauqua, NY and Wheeling, WV passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

He was born December 3, 1957 in Wheeling, WV, the son of Carol (Colton) Steckel of Chagrin Falls, OH and the late Edwin Moore Steckel Jr. of Wheeling WV.

Ted was a 1976 graduate of Trinity-Pawling School and went on to earn a Bachelors of Arts from Ithica College. He worked in advertising in New York, Florida and Wheeling. Ted excelled at all sports, and loved to travel. Ted spent time every summer at Chautauqua Institution, where he enjoyed comradery and great times with a hundred of his closest friends.

He is survived by his mother; Carol Colton Steckel of Chagrin Falls OH, one brother; Stephen (Jianli) Steckel of Solon, OH, a nephew; Zachary Steckel of Evanston IL, a niece; Pan Qi of Solon OH. Ted was preceded in death by his father; Edwin M. Steckel Jr.

Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Sandy Lake, PA.

Friends are welcome to gather at Ted's cottage at 16 Hurst, Chautauqua Institution, at 3PM on Monday, September 6 ^th .
