Elaine G. Cole's Obituary
SHERMAN – Elaine G. Cole, 83, of Rt. 76, Panama, went to be with her Lord on Saturday (Nov. 28, 2015) at Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA.
She was born October 9, 1932 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Fernando and Lillian Wright Smith.
Elaine was a Free Lance Writer and Journalist for the Jamestown Post Journal, Chautauqua News, and the Mayville Sentinel. She was librarian for the Minerva Free Library from 1987 to 1998.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sherman, and a member of the Minerva Club.
Elaine enjoyed birds, flowers, writing, photography and going to the creek with her children and grandchildren. She also loved to read books, she was an avid reader. She also had a heart for hospitality and not only entertaining family and friends, but extended family, friends, missionaries, and pastors. She loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She also loved her Lord and her church.
She is survived by her husband, William E. Cole with whom she just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary, they were married August 4, 1950 in the First Baptist Church in Sherman; five children, Vicki (Terry) Ayers of Sherman, Kim (Gayle) Cole of Sherman, Debbie (Steve) Tower of North East, PA, Kevin (the late Cheryl) Cole of Sherman, and Todd (Kimberly) Cole of Sherman; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Rothwell and Marjorie Jones.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, David Ayers; two sisters, Ellen Morlock, Evelyn Brookmire; and one brother, Edwin Smith.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 am Saturday in the First Baptist Church in Sherman. Pastor Paul Sears, Pastor Tim Minge, and Pastor Gary Henry will officiate. Burial will be in the Clymer Center Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday in the First Baptist Church in Sherman.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Sherman or to the Stanley Hose Co. in Sherman.
