MAYVILLE- Eloise M. Clay Carlson Putnam, 89, of Mayville, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at her sons' home in Sherman with family at her side.

She was born April 29, 1931 in Fillmore, NY, the daughter of the late William and Claudine Ackerman Clay.

Eloise graduated from Jamestown Highschool, class of 1950, and from Houghton University where she earned her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She then went on to begin her lifetime service of caring for others for over fifty years. For many years she was employed with Absolut Care of Westfield, WCA Hospital, the Will Lodge, and private nursing care.

Eloise served the Lord with all her heart. She was a life member of the North Harmony United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and participated in many functions.

She enjoyed swimming, bowling, board games with her grandchildren, crocheting, and was an avid seamstress. She had made many beautiful dresses and gifts for her grandchildren and friends. Eloise always found time for gardening, canning and cooking.

Eloise was a devoted mother and grandmother who shared her caring and giving nature with her grandchildren and family in their daily lives. Her life gifts of dedication, perseverance, caring and love will be sadly missed, but carried on by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son; Stephen (Melodie) Carlson of Sherman, NY, and seven grandchildren; Victoria (Joey) Carlson, Kelly (Stephen) Carlson, Christine Carlson, David (Meghan) Newhouse, Andrea (Dustin) Carlson, Emilee (Jamie) Carlson, and Kendall (Haley) Carlson.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband; John Victor Carlson, her second husband; Corydon (Oliver) Putnam, and one son; William (Bill) Carlson.

There will be no services at this time. A graveside service at the North Harmony Cemetery will be held at a future date to be announced.
