BEMUS POINT- Evelyn Strickland (Dickey)Hurlburt
A current member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church died Saturday June 17th at 8:45pm. Evelyn will be remembered by many for working as a photographer, as well as various medical assisting roles, including her volunteer work. Most recently she volunteered at the Chautauqua County Visitor Center- talking directions, sharing stories and recommendations regarding the area in general, as well as local businesses, with a healthy dose of local lore.
Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother:
Daughter of Herbert T. Ruth C. Strickland, of Chedwell, both deceased.
Sister of Howard R. (June) Strickland and David L. (Louise) Strickland, both deceased.
Wife of Lester O. Dickey and Richard L. Hurlburt, both deceased.
Mother of Cheryl D. Steele and Anita Yount, both deceased. Evelyn is survived by 2 children:
Karen Vogt and Rita Dickey, both of Buffalo. Grandmother of Dawn Steele Dawson of Rochester; Heather (Carson) Schreiner, Sam Carson, Sarah (Carson) D'Agostino, David Vogt Jr. (Utah), Kristen K. Vogt, Benjamin Yount, all of Buffalo. Great Grandmother of Ariana D'Agostino, Erika Carson both of Buffalo, and Alexander Dawson of Rochester.
Please join our family for a memorial service. Guests are welcome to pay respects Saturday July 8th from 3pm to 4pm at Freay Funeral Home 139 S. Erie Street, Mayville, New York 14757. A small in memoriam service will follow from 4pm to 5pm. In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to the National MS Society www.nationalmssociety.org/ and/or the Epilepsy Foundation www.epilepsy.com.
