MAYVILLE – Evelyn I. Ostrander, 93, of the WCA Home in Fredonia, and was formerly of Mayville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday (July 8, 2015) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rebab Center in Dunkirk.
She was born July 3, 1922 in Spartansburg, PA, the daughter of the late Clyde I. and Anna Smith Kelsey.
Evelyn was a hard working dairy farmers wife of 62 years.
She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Mayville for many years, where she taught kindergarten and served 18 years as church clerk. She loved her church the Lord and her family.
She is survived by her daughter in-law, Judy Kesby Ostrander of Mayville; three grandchildren, David (Deb) Ostrander of Falconer, Jeffrey (Shannon) Ostrander of Avon Park, FL, and Shawn (Cynthia) McKane of Jamestown; three great grandchildren, Justin (Kayla) Ostrander of Avon Park, Savanah Edwards of Avon Park, and Miranda Jo McKane of Jamestown; one brother, Clyde (Eileen) Kelsey of Centerville, PA; and one sister, Betty Morris of Guys Mills, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ross C. Ostrander whom she married August 12, 1944 in the Sherman Baptist Church and who died December 29, 2006; and her son Larry E. Ostrander who died September 27, 2014.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the First Baptist Church in Mayville. Pastor Dan Prewitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Sherman Cemetery. No visitation will be observed.
