CASSADAGA – Gail McChesney, 69, of Bard Road, Cassadaga, died Friday (March 15, 2013) at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk.

He was born May 17, 1943 in Jamestown the son of the late Ernest and Florence Barger McChesney.

Gail was a self-employed Contractor.

Gail enjoyed fishing, traveling, working in his workshop at home after retiring five years ago, his two dogs (Charlie and Alexis) and his cat (Prissy). Most of all he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife Joann Fiebelkorn McChesney whom he married March 12, 1983 in Mullins, SC; six children, Bradley (Diane) McChesney of Mayville, Michele (Jeff) Hoiser of Panama, Betsy Maynard of Jamestown, Stephen (Jennifer) McElwain of Kokomo, IN, Mark (Mona Kay) McElwain of Catoosa, OK, and Emily (Kevin) Groce of Glasgow, KY; nine grandchildren, Alyssa, Josh, Lawrence, Amber, Rachael, Rebekah, Curtis, Matthew, and Christopher; several great grandchildren;

four brothers and sisters, Rae (Carlyle) Tyler of Marion, SC, Carl (Tiana) McChesney of Corry, PA, Bert McChesney of Stedman, and Debbie (Hector) Perz of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by a son, Brian McChesney in 1971; a grandson, Jason Maynard; and a granddaughter, Maxine Maynard.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville. Stephen McElwain will officiate. Burial will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.

No visitation will be observed.
