MAYVILLE-Gerald "Jerry" Lee Bradford, 83 of Mayville, died Sunday, September 16, 2018 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, PA.

He was born October 25, 1934 in Obi, NY, the son of the late Paul and Nina Chaffee Bradford.

Jerry had been a Cement Finisher for forty years for DL Baker construction in Mayville.

He had attended a one room school house in Obi, NY before joining Portville Central School in the seventh grade. Jerry was a hard worker and was active in the FFA while working on his grandmother's farm (Nellie Kingsbury) in Obi. He also belonged to the BAC out of Buffalo, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the NRA, the Mayville Conservation Club, the New York State Turkey Federation, served 25 years on the board of Directors for the NWTF, and was a co-founder of the Chautauqua Lake Chapter.

Jerry enjoyed anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, as well as gardening, snowmobiling, and trapping with his sons and daughter.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years; Mary Morgan Bradford, whom he married on November 23, 1954 in Portville, NY, his four children; Gerald L (Debbie) Bradford II of Houston, TX, Julie S (Kip) Biggs of Surfside, TX, Edward P. Bradford of Davis Rd, Mayville, and James (Mary E.) Bradford of Dewittville, NY, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Dana Bradford, and a sister; Goldie B. Osgood.

The family will receive friends for three hours prior to the service (1-3PM) at the funeral home. Dress is casual.

The funeral will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 3PM at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St, 14757). The Rev. William Jackson will officiate. A private burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be made to a charity or organization of choice.
