MAYVILLE- Gertrude "Trudy" Margaret (Kelsey) (Haskin) Stafford- Trudy's light was born into this world on February 13, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and her light was peacefully extinguished on November 28, 2021.

Trudy was predeceased by her parents; Strong and Gertrude Kelsey her second husband; Donald Stafford, Sr. and a daughter-in-law; Laurie Haskin. She is survived by her sister; Lynn (Tom) Cordy of Bluffton, South Carolina, her niece; Mary Beth (Dean, Emily, and Abby) Warner of Kentucky, and Tom (Kate, Kelsey, Tatum and Sage) Cordy of New Hampshire. She was also survived by her four children: Kathleen Haskin of Brockport, NY, Kelly (Richard) Hotchkiss III of Mayville, NY, Susan (Jerry) Fairweather of Westfield, NY, and Donald H. Haskin Jr. of Westfield, NY, three stepchildren; Linda (Virgil) Cecil of Ohio, Donald Stafford Jr. of Arizona, and T.C. Stafford of Ohio. Trudy was blessed with grandchildren; R.J. (Kayla) Hotchkiss IV, McKenzie "Mac" Hotchkiss, Aaron Smith, Joshua Smith, Noah Smith, Jon Cecil, Kristi Cecil, Brandon Stafford, Heather Jones, Tom Stafford, and Jason Stafford, several great grandchildren; Jocelyn, Sydney and Owen Hotchkiss, and Maximus, Sawyer and Molly Smith, and others.

Born in Pittsburgh Trudy's family moved to the Chautauqua Lake area in 1945 where she attended and graduated from Mayville Central School. After Trudy graduated, she was employed by Chautauqua and Erie Telephone Company in Westfield and continued there until her retirement in 1997. She remained in Westfield and married Donald Haskin Sr. and raised her family. She later married Donald Stafford Sr. and continued to raise and enjoy her extended family. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Westfield and the United Methodist Women and had many dear friends in the church community. Trudy loved all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, both natural and step, immensely and was proud of them all. Family was most important to Trudy, but she also loved reading books, listening to Johnny Mathis, drinking her tea and indulging in her favorite treats of potato chips, and chocolate chip cookies. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family and after her diagnosis of Alzheimer she remained with her daughter Kelly and son-in-law Richard for well over a year at her original homestead in Mayville, NY.

The funeral will be held at 11AM on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The Rev. Nick Perry will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7PM on Friday, December 3rd at the funeral home as well as for 1 hour prior to the funeral on Saturday (10-11AM). A Celebration of Life will also be held in the spring of 2022. Date and time will be announced in the spring.
