MAYVILLE – Gordon H. Mattson, 75, of 20 Valley St., Mayville, died Saturday (April 20, 2013) at his home.
He was born August 10, 1937 in Jamestown, the son of the late Merlin and Florence Bergman Mattson.
Gordy had worked at Ostrander's Saw Mill in Frewsburg for 40 years.
He enjoyed watching birds, wood working, and horse's. He loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Elbert Mattson; one daughter, Betty J. Hicks of Jamestown; three sons, William H. (Debra) Mattson of Frewsburg, Tom Mattson of Jamestown, and Tim Mattson of Falconer; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Judy Nary of Jamestown; one brother, Norman Mattson of Mayville.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, his twin Helen, Barbara, Sonja, Janice, and Georgia; two brothers, Roy and Merlin Jr.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville. Rev. Cathy Smith, Hospice Chaplain will officiate. Burial will be in the Chautauqua Cemetery.
