MAYVILLE- Ila J. Croscutt Johnson, 84, of Mayville, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at the Tanglewood Manor Assisted Living Facility in Jamestown, NY.

She was born September 7, 1938, in French Creek, NY, the daughter of the late Roy and Irene King Croscutt.

Ila was a graduate of Sherman Central School. She had worked as a clerk for the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in Mayville.

She was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church for fifty-plus years. Ila enjoyed quilting, sewing, camping, her many cats, gardening, reading mystery books, and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by four daughters: Kathleen (David) Gray of Mayville, Karen (Shane) Pieper of Dallas, TX, Kris (Rick) Sadok of Ponca City, OK, and Lynn (Waide) Royal of Prairie Grove, AR, one granddaughter, Bridgett McFaul of Kennedy, NY one great-grandson, Rowan McFaul, one sister, Marlene Holthouse of Clymer, NY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Johnson, and a brother, Kenny Croscutt.

The funeral will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at the Mayville United Methodist Church (81 S. Erie St). The Rev. Thomas LeBeau will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Monday, August 21, 2023, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St).
