DEWITTVILLE – Irene M. (Pilkey) Smith, 89 of Georgia, formally a long term resident of Dewittville, NY passed away on Friday April 30, 2014 in Georgia.

Irene with her husband, Arthur W. Smith opened SMITH'S BAIT & TACKLE in Dewittville in 1972. Mrs. Smith operated the business for over 20 years. She was a part time deputy for the Town of Chautauqua and longtime member of Dewittville United Methodist Church.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Mr. Warren (Jackie) Smith of GA., Mr. Charles (Betsy) Smith of GA, Mrs. Linda (Joseph) Smith Lachut of NY, Mr. Gary (Roxanna) Smith of MI, Ms. Beverely (the late John Parker) Smith Parker of OH; a stepdaughter Mrs. Marge (Lem) Smith Morgan of GA, and also several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Arthur, and a sister Melba Bixey.

Irene Smith will now rest in peace next to her husband at the Mayville Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, NY on Friday at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday, form 1 to 2 pm. Family and friends will then proceed to the Mayville Cemetery for Irene's final journey.
