MAYVILLE- Izetta Blanche Hunter Ayling, 100, of Magnolia-Stedman Road in Mayville, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the Heritage Park Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation facility in Jamestown, NY.

She was born May 18, 1922, in Henderson, TN, the daughter of the late Nixon P and Lennie N. Simmons Hunter.

Izetta was a 1940 graduate of Chautauqua Central School. She had worked as a secretary for the Publications Department for the Chautauqua Institution.

She was a member of the Magnolia United Methodist Church, the North Harmony and Mayville Senior Citizens, a life member of the Lake Chautauqua VFW Post 8647, and the R.S.V.P. (Retired Service Volunteer Program) of Chautauqua County.

Izetta enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, reading, canning, and making pies for her grandchildren. She had a green thumb and if something was not poisonous, she could turn it into a food. Most of all she enjoyed time with her family.

She is survived by a son; Dennis (Marlene) Ayling of Liverpool, NY, a daughter; Phyllis Ayling Palmer of Mayville, NY, eight grandchildren; Dennis Ayling Jr., Scott (Jennifer) Ayling, Marcie and Marie Ayling, Paul (Heather) Ayling, Samantha Piazza, Rachel (Justin) Benjamin, and Susie (Tim) Colabufo, ten great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Leslie Ayling whom she married June 2, 1942, in Magnolia, NY, a son; Fredrick Ayling, a son in-law; Paul Palmer, two brothers, and two sisters.

The funeral will be held at 1PM on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery. A reception will follow at the North Harmony Senior Citizens Center.

Friends will be received from 4-7PM on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the funeral home.
