MAYVILLE – James F. Utley Sr., 71, of Chautauqua Stedman Road, died Friday (December 4, 2015) in his home.

He was born April 29, 1944 in Altoona, PA, the son of the late Leslie M. Utley and the late Viola D. Wicke Utley Coon.

Jim was a veteran of the US Navy (Seabees) from 1961 to 1965. He had been a truck driver for several years.

He was a member of the Chautauqua Fire Department, American Legion in Mayville, and Lake Chautauqua Memorial VFW in Mayville.
Jim enjoyed being a mechanic, hunting, he loved his family and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Georgianna Briggs Utley whom he married January 9, 1965 in Lakewood; six children, Joanne (Dennis) Deck of Mayville, Donna (Kalvin) Deck of Mayville, Lucinda (Jeff) Johnson of Mississippi, James (Sheila) Utley Jr. of Mississippi, Jesse (Jeni) Utley of Mayville, and Jim Keller of Tennessee; 21 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one step great granddaughter; three sisters, Carolyn Latta of Mayville, Eileen Utley of Jamestown, and Carol Cecil of Hampton, GA.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Young.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Monday in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Rev. Carmen Perry of Hurlbut Memorial Community Church will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday in the funeral home.
