MAYVILLE- James "Jim" D. Wright, 89, of Mayville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at the Absolut Care of Westfield in Westfield, NY.

He was born on March 16, 1933, in Bradford, PA, the son of the late Vivan and Vanette Bebb Wright.

Jim had worked as a rural route mail carrier for the Mayville Post Office from which he retired.

He was a member of St Mary of Lourdes RC Church in Mayville, and the Westfield Fish and Gun club. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, skiing, biking, jogging, and lifting weights and was a jack of all trades. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Jim is survived by his loving wife; Dorothy Parment Wright, whom he married on November 3, 1951, in Jamestown, NY, three children; James (Barbara) Wright of Fredonia, NY, Deborah (Larry) Marsala of Mayville, NY, and Dale (Michelle) Wright of Charleston, WV, one daughter in law; Hope Wright of Mayville, seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son; Gregory Wright, a sister; Martha Freeman, and a brother; Vivan Wright.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the St Mary of Lourdes RC Church in Mayville (22 East Chautauqua St). FR Todd Remick will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S Erie St).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Mayville Rescue Squad (PO Box 2, Mayville, NY 14757).
