CHAUTAUQUA – Joel Inman Tolerton, 76, of Crestwood Road, Mayville, died Sunday (October 4, 2015) at his home.

He was born October 17, 1938 in Alliance, OH the son of the late Robert I. and Hazel Inman Tolerton.

Joel was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy, attended Ohio University, and graduated from the University at Mount Union in Alliance.

He was president of the Tolerton Company and later formed and operated JMT Productions, Inc. in Alliance.

Joel was a former member of the Lions Club, Chautauqua Yacht Club, Chautauqua Golf Club, and the Alliance Country Club.

Joel enjoyed boating, golfing, animals, country music and people.

He is survived by his wife, Mary "Mimi" Swallen Tolerton whom he married June 16, 1962 in Sharon, PA; one brother, J. Terry (Judy) Tolerton of Hilton Head, SC; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Inman "Marnie" Tolerton; and a brother, Robert H. Tolerton.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday in the Chautauqua Cemetery. Rev. Nelson Horne will officiate.

No visitation will be observed.
