John Michael Kelsey, 50, of Jamestown, NY and Mayville, NY passed away Saturday evening (August 3, 2013) in WCA Hospital.

John was a previous employee of ECKO Tool and Die and LPM of Lakewood, NY. He was an avid race car enthusiast. John raced car F18 for many years at both Stateline Speedway and Erie Speedway. He was known for his generosity, kindness and willingness to help others. His vast knowledge of racing and cars will be missed by all in the racing community. John was also an avid outdoors man. He was truly musically and artistically talented.

He was preceded in death by his father, John George Kelsey, and by two brothers: James Thomas Briggs and Danny Briggs.
John is survived by his daughter, Felicia (Jeffrey) Keeler of Falconer, NY and his son, John H Kelsey of Jamestown, NY; his mother Hancil Armstrong Kelsey of Dighton, Mass; Sisters, Kaie (Mike) Smith of Lakewood, NY, Michele DePonceau (Jim Coan) of Ashville, NY, Cristy(Marty) Sixt of Springville, NY, Cindy Crowell of Estill Springs, TN and Judy (Dale) Robbins of Dighton, Mass; a brother, Thomas Kelsey of Jamestown, NY; two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Ellie Keeler of Falconer, NY. John is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is survived by a good friend, Guy "Pugsley" Adams.

John will truly be missed by his family, his friends and the racing community.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Freay Funeral home, 139 S. Erie St., Mayville, NY 14757.

Visitation will be observed from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 8, 2013, in the Freay Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mayville Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Paul Womack will officiate.
