WESTFIELD- Joseph E. Sventek, 95, of Westfield and formerly of Sherman, NY and Corry, PA, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, February 5, 2024. He was born May 23, 1928, in Corry, PA, the son of the late Anton and Mary Kucera Sventek.

Joe attended Corry area schools. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Sherman from which he retired. He was a member of the St Isaac Jogues RC Church in Sherman, St Mary of Lourdes RC Church in Mayville, the Farm Bureau and the Holstein Association. He enjoyed bowling, watching old time western TV shows, watching his beloved Cleveland Indians/Guardians, cheering on the Cleveland Browns, and tending to his annual large vegetable garden and very large lawn. He was active in restoring antique tractors and a 1971 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Shirley I Fitch Sventek, whom he married June 2, 1951, in Corry, PA, seven children; Joseph S. (Virginia) Sventek of Eugene, OR, Jeffrey C. (Debra) Sventek of Sherman, NY, David A (Mercedes) Sventek of Vacaville, CA, Timothy J (Margaret) Sventek of North East, PA, Patrick B (Jayne) Sventek of Naples, FL, Paulette S Sventek of Jamestown, NY, and Eric P (Lissa) Sventek of Pensacola, FL, eight grandchildren; J. Gabriel (Meghan) Sventek of Simi Valley, CA, Meagan K (Mark) Tenia of Midlothian, VA, Andrew R (Maria) Sventek of Morrisville, NC, Sheena M (Christopher) Villarraga of Clemmons, NC, Janelle (Benjamin) Besasie of Chicago, IL, Jennifer L Sventek of Oakland, CA, Jessica L Sventek of Vacaville, CA, and Charles B VanGuilder of Jamestown, NY, nine great-grandchildren, a sister Rosemary (George) Baker of Corry, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Andrew and Anthony Sventek and three sisters; Lucy Kubich, Agnes Puchly, and Josephine Skalas.

A memorial mass will be held at the convenience of the family at a future date and will be announced.
