STOW- Juanita Doris Schurman Holthouse, 74 of Stow, passed away on December 1, 2022, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Erie, PA.

She was born March 20, 1948, in Corry, PA, the daughter of the late Raymond and Audrey Akam Schurman.

Juanita was a 1967 graduate of Clymer Central School where she also learned baton. She was a majorette for many parades in Clymer.  She then earned an associate degree in Business from Bryant and Stratton College. She had worked as a secretary for Clark Supply in Falconer, the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging in Mayville, and the Chautauqua County Youth Bureau, also in Mayville.

Juanita was a member of the North Clymer United Methodist Church where she was a member at large on the Administration Board, a member of the Lake Chautauqua VFW Post 8647 Auxiliary where she was a past Secretary, and the Honor Guard Coordinator for over twenty years, a member and former president of the Chautauqua County VFW Auxiliary, a member of the North Harmony and Mayville Senior Citizens and was inducted into the Chautauqua County Bowling Hall of Fame on October 19, 2019.  Juanita also worked for the Board of Elections for many elections.

She enjoyed bowling, church, and VFW functions, and was a very social person who loved to talk with her many friends.

Juanita is survived by her loving husband; Paul Holthouse, whom she married May 7, 1971, at the Panama Baptist Church, four siblings; Eugene (Carol) Schurman of Clymer, PA, Colleen (Archie) Harrower of Kennedy, NY, Jerrold (Debby) Schurman of Clymer, NY, and Capri (Wayne) TeCulver of North Clymer, NY, one sister-in-law; Jody Schurman of Lakewood, NY several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother; Quentin Schurman, and one nephew; Matthew TeCulver.

The funeral will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the North Clymer United Methodist Church (7795 NY 474, Panama, NY 14767). The Rev. Kevin Costner will officiate. Burial will be in the Clymer Center Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the funeral (10 AM to 11 AM), at the church.
