WESTFIELD- Lawrence "Larry" E. Swanson, 80, of Westfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the Absolut Care of Westfield.

He was born October 19, 1941, in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Edmund and Lenora Willover Swanson.

Larry had attended Mayville Central School. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge he worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways in Albuquerque, NM, and as an independent truck driver for several years and for many years worked as a local mechanic.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and auto racing at the dirt tracks, running the Super Late Model. His favorite time spent was with his family.

Larry is survived by his three children: Rhonda (Mark) Hancock of Westfield, NY, Kimberly (David) Charette of Atlanta, GA, and Lonnie (Anne) Swanson of Ripley, NY, eight grandchildren; James (Tammy) Battin, Robert (Amanda) Galbraith, Dylan Hardy, Kyle Jackson, Carson Jackson, Brittany (Matthew) Goldie, Brandy Swanson and Tyler Swanson, five great grandchildren; Danny and Devin Battin, Carter and Natalie Galbraith, and Wyatt Swanson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Jackilyn Murdock Swanson, a grandson; Daniel Battin, and three brothers; Bruce Swanson, Dwight Swanson, and Rodney Swanson.

The family will receive friends from 2-4PM and 6-8PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). Burial will be private in the North Harmony Cemetery.
