WESTFIELD-Lester A. Yeaney, 88, of Westfield, died, Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Heritage Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Gerry, NY.

He was born May 12, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Samuel L. and Mildred Hilty Yeaney.

Les was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War.

He had been an Industrial Engineer for Hammermill Paper Products, AMSCO, Welch's, and Westinghouse. He was also the former owner of Changing Seasons Flower Shop in Westfield.

Les was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for over seventy years, having earned his Eagle Scout Badge and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award (the highest award for the Boy Scouts). He also helped guide over 15 other boys to earn their Eagle Scout badges. Les was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 118, the Kiwanis Club, the Masons, First Presbyterian Church of Westfield where he served as an Elder and Deacon, and served as past president of the Westfield Chamber of Commerce. He was also awarded the honor of Student of the Year his senior year at Pitt University.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Bushey Yeaney, whom he married on April 5, 1952, five children; L. Allen (Jan) Yeaney of Dallas, TX, Daniel (Jennifer) Yeaney of Houston, TX, Stephen (Donna) Yeaney of Maryville, TN, Sherry (Dean) Mead of Westfield, NY, and Eric (Jackie) Yeaney of Reston, VA, two brothers; Darrell (Sue) Yeaney, and Jerry (Carol) Yeaney, thirteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Les was preceded in death by his parents and one sister; Elma Louise Hallman.

Les donated his body to the University of Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences for medical research.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 4PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Westfield. Rev. Ronald L. Sumption and Rev. Stephen Yeaney will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour (3-4PM) before the service at the church.
