MAYVILLE – Marguerite Estella Brightman, 93,of Mayville, NY, went to be with her Lord Thursday (March 27, 2014) in St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie, PA.

She was born June 11, 1920 in Mayville, NY, the daughter of the late George R. and Cerise Benjamin Brightman.

Marguerite was a graduate of Chautauqua High School, received her B.S. in education from Northwestern University, she received her M.A. from Columbia University, she also attended National College for Christian Workers in Kansas City, MO. She lived in Kansas City, MO for about 62 years and had been a school teacher there.

She was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church of which she sang in the choir and belonged to the Queen Esther Ladies group at church, Pi Lambda Theta Honorary Sorority; Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Society; Methodist Church groups; North Cross United Methodist Choir for 20 years, she had been a Methodist Deaconess, she belonged to the Tuesday Club and the Senior Citizen Groups.

She is survived by four nephews, David J. (Eleanor) Browne of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Philip A. Browne of Lakewood, NY, John "Jack" Brightman of Mayville, and James F. (Lori) Brightman of Mayville; 12 great nieces and nephews, Chris, Jeannie, Missy, Sally, Tiffany, Seth, Tyler, Trevor, Michael, Julie, Evie, and Lisa; several great great nieces and nephews; she is also survived by her dear friends Barb Hoitink and Debbie Loomis; and her dear earth angels.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Browne; a brother, John E. Brightman; a niece Betty Browne; nephew, Melvin Browne; and one great niece Becky Browne.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Mayville United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Parsons will officiate. Burial will be in the North Harmony Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville.
