MAYVILLE – Marilyn W. Elliott, of 26 East Whallon St., Mayville, was stricken by a massive stroke while sleeping on August 13th, she died in St. Vincent's Hospital in Erie, PA, on Wednesday August 14th, 2013 surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen N. Elliott who lost his best friend and the love of his life. Her children, Mary A. (James) Bradford of Mayville and Christopher S. (Kate) Elliott of Mayville. Their children Audrey Thompson of Fredonia and Kirsten and Corinne Elliott of Mayville. She is also survived by her brother, Grant E. (Marian) Winchester of Bemus Point, and her sister D. Joanne Moyle of Lewisville, TX.
Marilyn was born February 7, 1934 to Glenn A. and Lillian J. Winchester in Jamestown. She was a graduate of Bemus Point Central School in 1952.
During her working years (mostly as a great stay at home mother) she was employed by Empire State Mutual Life Ins. Co., Kling Furniture Factories and Chautauqua County License Bureau in Mayville.
Marilyn was a pillar of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where for years she was a Lay Reader and Usher. An active community member she served on the Westfield Memorial Hospital Board, The Mayville Tuesday Club, The Mayville Library Board, The Sea Lion Fund Raising Board and many other community events. She was an active member of the Chautauqua and Point Chautauqua Golf Leagues, and for many years the Ladies Monday Bowling League.
The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mayville at 11:00 am Wednesday August 21st the date they were married 59 years ago in the same church. Rev. Dr. Claudia Koczka, rector at the church will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday August 20th in the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville.
