SHERMAN- Mark T. Klinger, 58, of Sherman passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at UPMC Chautauqua Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born May 26, 1963 in Westfield, NY the son of the late Richard and Laura Chamberlain Klinger of Sherman, NY.

Mark had attended Chautauqua Central School. Before retiring early from a work injury, he had been employed by Chautauqua Lake Estates and the Peek'n Peak Resort as a ski lift operator and grounds-keeper.

He was a unique presence: the life of the party and had a laugh that would brighten any day. He was the family cook, caretaker, helper, listener and jokester. He went by many nicknames, which include Bucket, Uncle Suzie, Sparky and Martha. He loved to tend to his gardens, fish and birds. His passion was to care for others, and he had a special fondness for "his babies".

Mark is survived by five siblings, Diana L. Ferguson of Nashville, TN, David Keith Klinger of Sherman, NY, Pamela D. Vettenburg (Becky Engel) of Nashville, TN, Tina L. Phelps (Michael McKoon) of Jamestown, NY and Douglas H. Klinger of Sherman, NY. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews and dozens of great-nieces and-nephews. Though he did not have any children of his own, he was a father figure, and dear friend to countless loved ones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Alton B. Klinger of Sherman, NY and Paul D. Klinger of Ripley, NY and one nephew, Allen K. Ferguson of Lancaster, SC. At Mark's request there will be no public services observed. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
