MAYVILLE- Mary Ann Dearing Cannon, 86, of Mayville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 25, 2022, at her home and surrounded by family.

She was born December 11, 1935, in Mayville, NY, the daughter of the late Claude and Beulah Hess Dearing.

Mary was a graduate of Mayville Central School, where she was Salutatorian of the class of 1953. She enjoyed writing and chronicled the senior class trip to Washington, DC for the local newspaper. After graduation, she worked briefly in the Chautauqua County Welfare Office.

Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mayville, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Later, Mary was a member of Maranatha Baptist, where she taught Sunday School and was a teacher for the Christian Academy. Mary has also attended Sherman Baptist Church, Lake Erie Baptist Church and West Portland Baptist Church.

She was a devout Christian, reaching out to people in her neighborhood and going door to door with Christian tracts to share her faith. She also enjoyed family events, gardening and canning, bird watching, reading and going for evening walks.

Mary is survived by three sons: Edwin M. (Cheryl) Cannon of Mayville, Timothy S. (Colleen) Cannon of Mayville and Randolph "Randy" J. (Jackie) Cannon of Mayville, five grandchildren; Lee (Jason) Donato, Michael (Melanie) Cannon, Hillary Nelson, Ethan Nelson, and Alicia Cannon, six great grandchildren; Taylor, Peyton and Gage Donato and Avery, Sidney, and Jackson Cannon, three sisters; Sue Scharf of Westfield, Judy Gilbert of Brocton, and Teresa Dearing of Dansville, NY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Edwin S. Cannon, whom she married June 9, 1956, at St Paul's Episcopal Church in Mayville, one sister; Anita Carlson, and one brother; Ted Dearing.

The funeral will be held at 11AM on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Mayville (59 S. Erie St). The Rev. Daniel Prewitt will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 4-7PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022,

at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St).
