DEWITTVILLE – Mary Jean Donato, 87, formerly of Dewittville, died Saturday (June 6, 2015) at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing in Greenhurst, NY.
She was born June 14, 1927 in Dewittville the daughter of the late Harry and May Cournan Arnold.
Mary Jean was the postmaster at the Dewittville Post Office and had worked there for 31 years.
She was a member of St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mayville and was a 30 year member of the Dewittville Fire Department Auxiliary.
She is survived by her son, Anthony J. Donato of Dewittville; two grandchildren, Jason D. (Lee) Donato of Dewittville and Melissa A. Donato of Amherst, NY; three great grandchildren, Taylor, Peyton, and Gage Donato of Dewittville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Donato whom she married December 4, 1946 in Mayville and who died February 3, 1998; and her daughter in-law Kathy Rhebergen Donato who died December 6, 2014.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary of Lourdes in Mayville, or Dewittville Fire Department, or the Humane Society.
