ASHVILLE- Matthew "Matt" Stow, 58, of Ashville, died Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville, NY.

He was born December 29, 1959 in Jamestown, NY, the son of the late Frank E. and Grace Saxton Stow.

Matt was a Machinist at Matco Tools in Lakewood, NY.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Matt enjoyed gardening, the Buffalo Bills, spending time in creation, hand crafting cribbage boards, and had a passion for Blue Grass music. He was the rock of the family.

He is survived by his wife; Cheryl Ortiz Stow, whom he married January 17, 1997 in Stow, NY, his son; Matthew Stow, of Ashville, his two daughters; Lindsey Stow of Ashville, and Shannon (Josh) McCune of Lakewood, two grandchildren; Remelee McCune and Kayden McCune, four brothers; Frank (Vickie) Stow of Stow, Michael (Bonnie) Stow of Mayville, Mark (Carolyn) Stow of Jamestown, and Ronald Saxton of Ashville, one sister; Rhonda Saxton of Ashville, and many nieces and nephews.

Matt was preceded in death by his parents; Frank Stow Sr and Grace Saxton Stow, a brother; John L. Stow, two sisters; Charlotte Stow Grover and Margaret Stow Ryan, and one granddaughter; Serenity McCune.

The Celebration of Life for Matt will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11AM at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. The Rev. Carolyn Stow will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Ashville, NY.

The family will receive friends from 1-4PM on Sunday, October 14 at the funeral home.
