DEWITTVILLE- Maxine B. Francis, 94, formerly of Dewittville, passed to her eternal home on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Heritage Village Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born January 29, 1923 in North Kansas City, MO, the daughter of the late Walter and Nelle Cunningham Brooks.
Maxine had been a supervisor for children's services for Chautauqua County. She had belonged to the Dewittville-Hartfield United Methodist Church and the Mayville Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed reading, canning, missionary outreach programs such as working in a soup kitchen and at a thrift store. Most of all, she enjoyed time with her family.
Maxine is survived by her three children; Daniel Francis of Dewittville, Marcia Ravnikar of Arkport, NY, and Sharon (Duane) Frudd of Stockton, seven grandchildren; Susan (Sean) Joubert, Furlow Francis, Michelle (Chris) Burke, Stacy Ravnikar, Matthew (Heidi Martin) Wilson, Bryan (Shanon) Wilson, and Melissa Wilson, eight great-grandchildren; Tanalyn, Nora, and Colin Joubert, Triton Francis, Kamryn and Kenadie Wilson, and Andrea and Rion Martin, and one sister; Betty Jean Schelstrate of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Neil Francis, whom she married on August 20, 1946 in Parkville, MO, one son; Clyde "Butch" Himes Jr., a daughter in-law; Alice Francis, and one great granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11AM at the Stockton Community Church. Rev. Jim Witherington will officiate. Burial will be in Dewittville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-7PM on Monday, September 25 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville
