Meda Seekings, 92, of West 13th Street in Jamestown, formerly of Hazen Road in Sherman, died Tuesday (December 13, 2016) at her home.
She was born October 6, 1924 in Portville, NY, the daughter of the late Floyd and Erma Housler Blakeslee.
Meda enjoyed crocheting, country music, reading and quilting making a blanket for all of her grandchildren. She loved her family very much.
She is survived by a daughter, Ella Sippen of Florida; 5 sons, Gale (Esther) Seekings of Lakewood, Mark (Debbie) Seekings of Panama, Barry (Stephanie) Seekings of Sherman, Wave (MaryLouise) Seekings of Clymer, and Arthur (Bonnie) Wright of Ripley; 17 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Cloie Eddy of Jamestown, Leila Armstrong of East Randolph, and Nina Farris of Inverness, FL; 2 brothers, Otis Blakeslee of Sebring, FL and Vermont Blakeslee of Ashville.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph A. Seekings whom she married April 10, 1943 in Ripley, NY and who died Sept. 6, 1999; and a sister, Dianna Tobin.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday (Dec. 17th) in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Rev. Steven Taylor of the Panama United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Kiantone.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Friday (Dec. 16th) and for one hour (10 to 11 am) (Dec. 17th) prior to the funeral service on Saturday in the funeral home.
