MAYVILLE – Nancy Appleyard Luensman, 84, formerly of Oak Street, Mayville, and Sischo Family's Frewsburg Rest Home, died Saturday (March 28, 2015) at Heritage Village Rehab & Skilled Nursing in Gerry.
She was born April 29, 1930 in Jamestown the daughter of the late Donald Stott and Ruth Lillian Dearing Appleyard.
Nancy was a Wife and Mom and very proud of it. She had also worked at Mayville Library, and for the University of Illinois.
She was a 1948 graduate of Jamestown High School and Kendall College in Evanston, IL.
Nancy was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church and its Choir, Westfield Breast Cancer Support Group, Yoga at Pantara, Mayville Senior Citizens and she had been a volunteer at Westfield Memorial Hospital.
Nancy enjoyed the Ripley Hawk Watch, and watching birds at her bird feeders. She loved her children and their spouses and her grandchildren and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Sally Jo (Dan) Strickland of Ashville, and Judy B. (Jason Nett) Luensman of Randolph; three grandchildren, Heather (Jeremy) Claypoole of Blockville, NY, Lori (Jacob) Myers of Busti, NY, and John Strickland who is attending University of Buffalo; one sister, Diana (Toby) Marsh of New Richmond, WI; one brother, Joe (Joan) Appleyard of East Petersburg, PA; and many loved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John R. Luensman whom she married September 9, 1951 in Evanston, IL and who died August 13, 1997; a son Timothy John Luensman, and a sister, Patricia A. Parker.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday in the Mayville United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Parsons will officiate. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7:30 pm Wednesday in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville.
