WESTFIELD- Nathan Charles Smith, 60, of Westfield passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, with family at his side.

He was born June 30, 1960 in Westfield, NY the son of Charles and Nancy Mayer Smith.

Nathan was a 1978 graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School. After graduation he proudly served his country by enlisting into the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1982. He then became a self-employed carpenter, contracting with several local construction companies.

He was a member of the William P. Jackway Westfield VFW Post 6764 and the John W. Rogers Westfield American Legion Post 327.

Nathan enjoyed hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, birding, reading, camping, farming, and was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabers. His favorite time spent was with family, his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his two children; Carolyn (Sam) McVane of Lawrenceville, VA, and Derek (Sierra Hryniewich) of Roanoke, VA, two grandchildren; Jackson and Charles McVane, his parents; Charles and Nancy Mayer Smith of Westfield, three siblings; Todd Smith of Westfield, Roxanne Smith of Westfield, and Mark (Billie) Smith of Westfield and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Nathan was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The funeral will be held at 1pm on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Dewittville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church (5821 Meadows Rd, Dewittville, NY 14728). The Rev. Andrew Frudd will officiate. Burial will be in the Dewittville Cemetery with full military honors presented by William P Jackway Westfield VFW Post 6764.

The family will receive friend from 4-7PM on Friday, June 25, 2021 at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St).
