BEMUS POINT- Norma Jean Bendick Darling, 79, of Bemus Point, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

She was born August 17, 1943, in Windber, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Kohan Bendick.

Norma was a 1961 graduate of Susquehanna High School. She had worked in the Housekeeping Department at WCA Hospital in Jamestown, NY.

She enjoyed traveling the world, taking long drives through the countryside while listening and singing along to her favorite tunes, going to the casinos to gamble, playing BINGO, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Norma is survived by her two daughters; Carol Balcom of Bemus Point, NY, and Jane (Todd) Smith of Hampton, VA, three grandchildren; Aaric Smith of Chesapeake, VA, Cassondra Smith of Hampton, VA, and Katrina Balcom of Bemus Point, NY, one sister; Janet (George) Lovejoy of Millinocket, ME, and one brother; John (Ida) Bendick of Johnson City, NY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; Betty Vienneau, a grandson; Ryan Balcom, and a son-in-law; George Balcom Jr.

At Norma's request, there will be no public services observed. A private graveside service will be held at the Saint Anthony's cemetery in Jackman, ME at the convenience of the family.
