MAYVILLE- Patricia Louise "Pat" (Darby) Baker, 93, of Milan, Indiana[LK1] , formerly of Mayville, New York, passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at Ripley Crossing Assisted Living Center in Milan.

Pat was born on Tuesday, April 8, 1930, in Nemacolin, Pennsylvania; the daughter of William and Emalea (Miller) Darby. Pat married Donald Lewis Baker (1927-2006) on September 6, 1952, in Portville, New York and they moved to Chautauqua County, New York in 1963. Pat spent most of her life in Chautauqua County, New York and the last four years in Milan, Indiana in the care of her son, Randy Darby. Pat worked as a school bus driver, a server at Chautauqua Diner, and as an office assistant at the Office for the Aging in Mayville, New York.  While in Indiana, Pat became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Batesville but was a long-time member of the Methodist Church.  She was a member of multiple organizations in New York including the North Harmony Senior Citizens, VFW Auxiliary, Chautauqua Fire Department Auxiliary, and Eastern Star.

Pat was very generous with her children and grandchildren, and they were on and off in her home until late in Pat's life. She loved to play cards and to care for her Boston Terriers.  Pat developed a large network of friends in Chautauqua County. She was an exemplary mother, mentor, and human being who touched many lives.

Pat is survived by her son Randall Duane (Sharon) Darby of Holton, Indiana; daughters Phyllis Lynne Baker (Kevin Leicht) of Iowa City, Iowa, Paulette Laine Baker (Jay Freeman) of Dewittville, New York, and Tanya Lee Baker of Jamestown, New York.  She has five grandchildren, Alicia Lynn Darby Meinking (James Frederick Meinking), Uriah William Darby, Leanne Baker Hotek, and Taylor Baker Hotek (Jessica Kay Brimeyer), and Macie Lee Baker; eight great grandchildren Erika Renee Sandman, Derek Bradley Sandman, Marissa Nicole York, Allison Laine Seastrom, Patience Lauren Glatt, Anthony Louis Anzalone II, Aaliyah Lyric Anzalone, and Uriah Robert Darby; and one great great grandchild Ella Durralene Conley.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Donald Lewis Baker (2006) and son Dennis Lee Baker (2018).

The family will hold a celebration of life service at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville at 2:30 PM on Saturday, May 25, 2024, with friends being received for one hour before the service (1:30 – 2:30 PM) at the funeral home. The interment will be in the Magnolia Cemetery, and a reception will follow at the Mayville Legion.  Memorials may be given in honor of Pat to the Chautauqua Fire Department.
