MAYVILLE – Patrick L. Lucariello, 84, of Bemus Point formerly of Mayville, died Monday, March 28, 2022, at UPMC Chautauqua after a battle with bone cancer. He was born September 4, 1937, in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Mauro Lucariello and Harriett Putnam Lucariello.

Patrick was a graduate of Mayville Central School in 1955 and was the Director of the Physical Plant at Damon College. He also worked as a Foreman for the New York Highway Department and worked for the Chautauqua County BOCES. Patrick also was the owner of County Seat Paving, Walnut Creek Mobile Home Park and Mr. Do Truck Driving School.

Patrick was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Bemus Point. Pat was the Commissioner of the Mayville-Chautauqua Little League Baseball and coached his son's baseball teams for many years. He also enjoyed being an umpire and referee for local baseball and basketball teams. Throughout his life, Pat was active in the Lion's club of Chautauqua County and the PTA/Boosters Club at Mayville Central School.  He was the Chairman of the Conservative Party for Chautauqua County and was the first Conservative Mayor in Mayville.

Patrick enjoyed working on unique projects, operating his backhoe and dozer and eating breakfast at the Bemus Point Inn where he joked and bantered with the servers. Pat started collecting elephant figurines after he worked as an elephant trainer in his 20's for the Tropical Fish and Exotic Animal store. Pat took the elephant, Lena to various grand openings, including a parade for the Eisenhower/Nixon presidential ticket, where he performed and gave children rides.

He is survived by his six children, Cindy McGlone (Patrick) of Gaithersburg, MD, Steve Lucariello (Barb) of Mayville,  Sandy Hogue (Bob) of Dayton, MD, Pat Lucariello Jr. (Kolleen) of Parish, NY, Kathy Hobson (Jack) of Cambridge Springs, PA, and Karin Shearer (Randy) of Lexington, SC; 17 Grandchildren, Katie Monahan (TJ), Patrick McGlone (Alida), Tara Ha (Anfon), Ryan McGlone (Jen), Amanda Hogue, Bobby Hogue, Jon Hogue, Adam Lucariello (Caroline), Sarah Russell (Jeff), Matt Lucariello (Lindsey), Allie Bras (Evan), Brad Einink, Randy Shearer, Ty Shearer (Jess), Kourtney Shearer, Joel Hobson (Steph), and Josh Hobson (Diana) and 22 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Stacey Lucariello, whom he married October 27, 1956, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mayville, Brother Steve Lucariello; Sister Maureen Lucariello and a son-in-law Bradley Einink.
