MAYVILLE – Paul E. Clark, 83, of Mayville died Saturday (March 21, 2015) in Mayville.
He was born August 1, 1931 on Davis Road in the Town of Chautauqua, the son of the late Walter Clayton and Naomi Fern Cripe Clark.
Paul was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict, and had been stationed in Germany. He was a graduate from Chautauqua High School in 1949.
In earlier years he worked for Art Metal for 8 years, then he sold real estate for Mayville Reality, he also owned and operated Hanselman Home Decorating in Mayville for several years, he also worked for Chautauqua County Land Fill for 5 years, he also worked for Chautauqua Malted Milk Plant where he was a New York State Milk Tester, he had also worked for Zippo Lighter for many years, and then he owned Clark and Clark Real Estate.
Paul was a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church where he was a greeter, he was a life member of the William L. Travis American Legion 493 in Mayville and a life member of Lake Chautauqua Memorial Post VFW 8647 in Mayville, a 14 year member of the Mayville Fire Department, former member of the Mayville Jaycee's, and was a former Vestry member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mayville.
He cared about Family, Florida, and Fishing. He enjoyed shark fishing with his brother, cooking, baking, riding his scooter around town, vegetable gardening, and he loved his piano keyboard. The most important thing in his life was his wife and family.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Weinert of GA; his son, Michael P. Clark of Mayville; six grandchildren, Rachelle L. Clark of Buffalo, Jared M. Clark of Mayville, Jonathan (Natalie) Martin of IL, April (JT) Mercier of GA, Lance Weinert of Jamestown, and Brooke Weinert of Jamestown; several great grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Doris) Clark of Holiday, FL.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jayne Ann Hanselman Clark whom he married September 15, 1956 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Mayville, and who died November 10, 1997.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Thursday in the Bemus Point United Methodist Church in Bemus Point. Dr. Rev. William Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Mayville Cemetery, where Military Honors will be held.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville.
