MAYVILLE- Paul Motrynczuk, 94, of Mayville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at his home.

He was born February 5, 1928, in Nahariana, Ukraine, the son of the late Waysl and Maria Demada Motrynczuk.

At the age of 16, During WWII Paul was abducted from his home in the Ukraine to work at a Nazi Forced Labor Camp. There he was forced to perform forced labor in the German Reich. This was a very difficult time in the history of WWII and for Paul. After the war ended in 1945, Paul met his loving wife, Agathe in Augsburg Germany. They married and had their first three children.

In 1951, searching for freedom and a better way of life, Paul Immigrated with his family to the United States of America.  One of Paul's proudest moments was when he and Agathe earned and received their U.S. Citizenship.

After immigrating to America, Paul worked various jobs to support his family while at the same time continuing his education and learning the English language. He ultimately landed a job at Dahlstrom Manufacturing in Jamestown working his way up to Foreman for the Prototype Department.

He was a long-time member of St Mary of Lourdes RC Church in Mayville, the Knights of Columbus, and the Hartfield Fire Department.

Paul was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, building things in his workshop, family chicken barbeques and his cats. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family.

Paul is survived by four children: Renate (David Daley) Hildum of Corry, PA, Peter (Toni) Motrynczuk of Chester, VA, Roswita (Thomas) McMaster of Mayville, NY and Linda (Don) Dougan of Brocton, NY, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and one great great grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Agathe Gsantner Motrynczuk, whom he married April 1, 1945, and one son; Paul M. Motrynczuk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, in St. Mary of Lourdes RC Church in Mayville (22 East Chautauqua St). FR David Tourville will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St).

Memorial donations can be made to the Westfield Stray Cat Rescue, the Hartfield Fire Department or the St Mary of Lourdes Parish.
